Let's kill a myth right now: studying longer doesn't mean you learn more. Most popular study techniques — highlighting, re-reading — are actually a waste of time.
Why You Forget
Your brain isn't a hard drive. It deletes things it thinks aren't important. If you don't use information, you lose it. This is normal.
But every time you force yourself to remember something, the memory gets stronger. This is called active recall, and it's the only way to actually learn.
Stop Cramming
Your working memory can only hold a few things at once. When you try to cram a whole textbook in one night, you're just pouring water into a full cup. It spills over.
The Protocol
Here's how to study with Vylos:
- Deep Work (90 min): Do the hard stuff when you're fresh. Use the Vylos Timer.
- Move (30 min): Go to the gym. Walk. It helps your brain cement the info.
- Review (20 min): Use flashcards. Test yourself. If it feels hard, that means it's working.
Sleep Matters
Sleep is when your brain hits "save." If you don't sleep, you delete the file. It's that simple.
The goal isn't to study for 12 hours. It's to study for 4 hours correctly, and then go enjoy your life.
